TES SHAKESPEARE PLAY

SAVE THE DATE! The annual Shakespeare play, put on by the Thetford Elementary School 5th and 6th Graders, directed by David Kelman, with the help of many community volunteers will be Wednesday April 5th and Thursday April 6th at 7:00 in the TES gym/theater/multipurpose space. This year it is an adaptation of The Tempest, an island play with magic, storms, humor, and betrayal (of course). As in past years it should be an outstanding production and community event. Don't miss it!

Saturday, April 8, Thetford Academy's Operation Day's Work will sponsor a performance featuring Rwandan musician, dancer, and peace activist Jean-Paul Samputu from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. in Anderson Hall. Enjoy African cuisine exquisitely prepared by Taste of Africa (and fruit smoothies concocted by ODW students). Admission will be $15.00 for adults, $10.00 for students, $5.00 for children under 5, with a maximum family rate of $50.00. PTO BOX TOPS - A great way to help our school!

The Box Tops for Education program earns cash for TES student enrichment programs.  Every Box Tops coupon we send to General Mills is worth 10 cents.

How to participate: Clip Box Tops coupons from participating General Mills products (Some well known brands include General Mills cereals like Cheerios and Chex, Betty Crocker baking mixes and Pillsbury products.) Bring the coupons to the Thetford recycling center or the TES lobby.

Twice each school year the TES PTO sends the Box Tops to General Mills.  Then they send a check to the PTO. It’s as simple as that!

Please take the time to collect Box Tops. It’s an easy way to contribute money to the school and Box Tops money really makes a difference.

DIVERSITY FORUM NEWS

We've submitted a grant application to the VT Humanities Council to participate in the VT Reads 2006 program.  This is a one book, state-wide reading program.  This year's
book is As Long as There Are Mountains by Vermont author Natalie Kinsey-Warnock.  We're keeping our fingers crossed that Thetford will be chosen to receive copies of the book for this coming summer. If we're successful, we'll let you know. Collaborating organizations include the Latham and Peabody Libraries, Thetford Elementary School,
Thetford Academy, the PTO, and Maple Leaf Childcare Center.  Thanks to all of you for your willingness to add your support to this effort!
