ENERGY COMMITTEE HINT
Conserving water is important for its own sake, but it also saves
energy used to heat water and to pump it from your well. When showering, turn
off the water while soaping, shampooing, or shaving. If your shower controls
don’t have an easy shut-off, you can install a 1/2 inch ball valve in the pipe
that leads to the shower head. When you’re running the water to bring it to a
comfortable temperature for your shower or bath, gather the water in a bucket
and use it to water plants or flush the toilet.

RECREATION NOTES
Adult pick up sports - older children may play if the numbers permit:
Mondays: Volleyball at Treasure Island 6-8 PM
Thursdays: Softball at TES 6-8 PM
Fridays: Soccer at TES 6-8 PM
Saturdays: Yard games on the Thetford Center Common 6-8 PM. Pick up the games at the Village Store and return them by 8PM.

"Food for Friends" Summer Hours: Thetford Baptist Church (off Route 5, near Huggett's) offers a supplemental food pantry to those in need and provides a grocery bag of canned goods and frozen foods to any family upon request.
Please note a change in the Summer Hours.
The pantry is open each Sunday from 12 - 1:00pm and by appointment.
Call Pastor John Hartley (785-2050) for alternative "pickup" times or for more information.

TREASURE ISLAND NOTES
Friday, August 14, 12-3PM ** BEACH PARTY! **
Come and join in on the fun at Treasure Island! It's a party with lots of games led by the lifeguards, and a big potluck lunch! Dress tropical and bring a side-dish for the 12 Noon potluck. Hope to see you there!

TA NOTES
*The Building Project at Thetford Academy is in full swing. The first phase of work is being completed on the east side of Academy Road, and construction has now begun on the campus.
*Sports practices for high school teams begin Monday, August 17.
*New student orientation tours for students and their families will be held on Thursday, August 20. TA students will lead the tours; meet in Anderson Hall at 6:30 pm to join a group.
*The first day of classes for Thetford Academy students in grades 7-12 is Monday, August 24, starting at 7:35 am. Please be aware of the increased traffic on the hill, and remember there are always new student drivers.
*Thetford Elementary School opens for students in grades K-6 on Monday, August 31.

CARING COMMUNITY PRESCHOOL OPENINGS
Caring Community Preschool, located in Post Mills, has openings for children aged 3-5 in its preschool program.
CCP currently provides a warm and stimulating environment for over 26 families coming from eight area towns and this year celebrates over 20 years of operation!
CCP is a fully licensed preschool and is affiliated with Thetford’s educational Supervisory Union.

JAGUARS FOOTBALL
The First Practice for JAGUARS FOOTBALL will be Monday, August 10- 5:30pm at the Thetford Elementary School.
Practice for the first two weeks will be conditioning and drills; no equipment is used. Jaguars football and cheer is open to all Upper Valley youths aged 5 years to 19 years.
If you have not yet signed-up, please do so ASAP so that we have a more accurate idea of numbers.
JAGUAR CHEER---- we are looking for 2 coaches for the cheer squads. We have a Youth squad for 5-11 year olds and a Varsity squad for ages 12-19. We have lots of girls from here in Thetford as well as from Haverhill all the way to Plainfield. We have high school girls coming from Hartland to South Royalton, but are lacking in coaches.
