HELP NEEDED WITH COMMUNITY CENTER RETROFITS

The Thetford Center Community Association (TCCA), Thetford Energy Committee (TEC) and Sustainable Energy Resource Group (SERG) are teaming up to perform some badly needed retrofits on the Thetford Center Community Center. Planned upgrades include: air sealing and insulating the attic, walls and basement; air sealing the leaky windows and doors; installing a range hood over the cook stove; upgrading the heat duct system; creating a drainage system against moisture in the basement; and upgrading the electrical and heating systems. This project will not only improve the energy efficiency of the building but will also enhance the safety, health, and comfort of those who use it.

SERG is training and organizing community volunteers who are performing numerous retrofit measures.  However, we still need to raise $20,000 to hire professional contractors to complete more technical tasks and to buy the materials. If you or your business can help meet this goal, please send a check made out to the "Thetford Center Community Association" and mail to TCCA, P.O. Box 231, Thetford Center, VT  05075.  Please include your name, contact information and whether we may publicly acknowledge your gift.  Those interested in volunteering on the work crew can contact Bob Walker at 785-4126 or SERG@valley.net.

If you would like to learn more details about the retrofit plans and how they relate to weatherizing your own home, come to the TCCA Open House at the Community Center, Wednesday, September 16th at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Yours truly,
