RECREATION DEPARTMENT NOTES

Thetford Ski & Skate Sale - last local sale before the season begins! The sale is always the first Sunday in December, this year Sunday Dec 7th from Noon - 2 PM.  We offer Alpine & Nordic ski equipment, snowboards, skates, hockey equipment and winter clothing.

Consignment is Saturday Dec 6th from 4-6 pm AND Sunday Dec 7th from 9-11 am. Volunteers are still needed and can shop early at 11:30.

Ski Program deadline to sign up is Sunday Dec 7th.  $70/$25 for those with a Skiway pass. Registrations may be dropped off at the ski sale. After this date, all registrations received will be assessed a $20 late fee. Scholarships are available.

Digital Photography class will be held Thursday, December 11th at 7 PM at the Town Hall.

Which digital camera should I pick?  Hear about the differences among digital cameras—from the smallest pocket camera to bigger cameras with changeable lenses.  Hear how those differences affect what kind of pictures you can take. Dan Grossman has taken over 100,000 digital pictures. In 2000, he used a crude 1.2 megapixel model.  Now he uses models with up to 14.5 MP from small compact models to cameras used by professionals. Hear about megapixels, optical and digital zoom, shutter lag, picture quality, and changeable lenses. Hear about choosing digital cameras for snapshots, sports pictures, flashes, zoom lenses and more. Expect to hear mostly about how to CHOOSE a digital camera, rather than how to USE a camera.

American Red Cross Babysitting class Saturday, Dec. 6th from 9 AM to 1 PM. Limit 6 people. $50 fee for 11-15 year olds, both boys and girls. Attendees will receive American Red Cross Certification. Call to reserve a spot!

Please call with any questions!

LATHAM MEMORIAL LIBRARY
Recently, Dartmouth College donated a podium to the library, to be used for speaker events. The donation was arranged by Rick Hoffman, through his work with the college's Procurement & Auxiliary Services office. This is not the first time Rick has arranged an in-kind gift from Dartmouth to the library, and the Latham trustees and staff are grateful for the ongoing support. So, a big thank you to Dartmouth and Rick!
